Context

The Bains Pommer is an iconic thermal bathhouse in Avignon, which operated from 1891 to 1972 and has been listed as a historic monument since 1992.

Solution

To restore and convert the Bains Pommer into a museum, Sfil and La Banque Postale provided €2.4 million in social-loan financing over 20 years.

The work includes restoring the building’s facades, the historic glass roof, the ceramic tilework, and the existing residential units, as well as bringing the entire site up to code. A visitor route allows guests to discover the technical installations, bathing cabins, entrance hall, and garden.

Results

This 520 m² Art Deco building has been rehabilitated into a cultural venue dedicated to the history of thermal bathing and hygiene, featuring a museum area, a garden, a veranda, and a seasonal pop-up café offering educational workshops and a tearoom.
