Renovation of the La Côtière road between Grand Lahou and Fresco

The 353-km-long La Côtière road connects Abidjan to San Pedro, the world's main cocoa port. Its renovation, completed in 2023, will reduce travel times, improve road safety and facilitate access to the areas it passes through.

Context

This project modernized an infrastructure that is essential to the economic development of Côte d’Ivoire. By improving traffic flow and reducing accidents and pollution, this infrastructure allows a better movement of goods and people between the different economic poles of the coastline.

Solution provided

Sfil is supporting the modernization of this strategic route with a participation into the export credit allowing the financing of the project which has been carried out by for Razel-Bec, a subsidiary of the French group Fayat. Razel-Bec specializes in public works and is recognized for its expertise internationally. By facilitating access to suitable financing, Sfil is contributing to the development of transport infrastructure and the economic dynamism of the region.

Results

The renovation of La Côtière has reduced the journey time between Abidjan and San Pedro to circa 4 hours, compared with more than 10 hours before the work. It thus strengthens the region’s economic attractiveness and improves the daily lives of the local population. This project illustrates Sfil’s commitment to sustainable and efficient infrastructure.
